How accurate is the information on your website - can I trust it?
Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2:24PM Tweet One of the major uncertainties people have when shopping online is the accuracy of what is listed. Is this really the price? Do they actually have stock? Is the information listed accurate?
In short, we put a huge amount of work into our website. We’ve put in the effort because we know accuracy is important to you. Our stock information and pricing is based on the most accurate information available, and we make the following guarantee: Either you will get the product as described, at the price listed, or we will give you a full refund - no hassles!
Click through for a more detailed description of how our system works, and for some answers to questions we often get about stock levels.
Here at Prophecy.co.za, we have a very advanced stock and product management system. We’re constantly updating and modifying our system to bring you the awesome products at great prices, with the most accurate information possible on every product.
In order to provide the huge range we offer (12 000 products and counting), we don’t carry every product in stock with us. Unlike a retail store, that will generally choose a handful of popular products from each category to sell, we can offer dozens or even hundreds. Looking for an ATI HD5000 series card? Pick from seventy five on our site. The average retail store carries less than ten - trust me, I’ve looked. Of course, because we don’t have every product in stock ourselves, it makes the task of monitoring stock levels much more challenging.
We import stock and price information daily from many different suppliers, importers and agents. Furthermore, we track our own stock more closely, modifying stock levels as products are sold. Our experience has shown us that customers highly value purchasing products that are in stock - more than 95% of all products ordered are in stock products. Products that are out of stock, or where the stock level is unknown, are generally ignored by customers.
Beyond this, when we can source the same product from multiple suppliers, we link them on our system. For example, the Core i7 930 CPU we can get from nearly a dozen suppliers. What does this mean to our customers? It means that we can often get products at better prices, and are more likely to have them in stock. Compared with a competitor who sources this CPU from a single importer, we are often able to offer better pricing, and have the product in stock more of the time. If the cheapest supplier is out of stock, we will list the next best price - this gives you the option to purchase the product at the best price available at that time.
As you can see, we’ve spent a lot of time to get our website as close to perfect as possible. Statistically, we have close to a 98% accuracy of products ordered and upwards of 90% of our orders ships within 1 day after your payment is confirmed. And if we do have an error creep into the system, or an order is delayed unexpectedly, we aim to update you via email as soon as humanly possible.
